Commemorative Tree

The Parish Council are intending to plant a Commemorative Tree as a permanent reminder of the D Day, VE Day and VJ Day commemorations that have taken place over the last 18 months.
Having consulted with the adjacent landowner, we're proposing to plant the tree in the location shown by the What3Words black square towards the top of the map. Here's the link to the location on What3Words.
The proposed location shouldn't hamper the seasonal grasscutting by ERYC. If you happen to be passing by, look out for a plastic stake with a ribbon to indicate the location.
We are also hoping to hold an event to mark the planting of the tree.
If you have any comments about the proposed location, or if you would like to attend the event, please get in touch by e-mail or by using the Contact Us page.

With thanks to Sharon Cawood for the idea and the wording,
and to Harriet Morgan for the poster design.

Damage to Grass Verges

We will be reporting a number of damaged grass verges to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for repair. Please contact us via e-mail or via the Contact Us page if you see any other damaged verges and we'll be more than happy to report them for you.
Please note: East Riding of Yorkshire Council have advised the Parish Council that residents should not place rocks, bollards or similar items on grass verges to prevent damage as doing so hinders the summer grass cutting and may leave property owners liable should damage be caused to passing vehicles.
Promote Your Local Business!

If you live in our Parish and have a business that serves the local community then we can help you to spread the word about it. Please contact us via e-mail or via the Contact Us page and tell us more about your local business and about you.
We hope you will find our website a helpful and informative source of news for residents and visitors. Covering parish events, places to go, places to stay and things to do, as well as information on all aspects of the Parish Council`s work.
The Parish is rural by nature and is situated on chalk land at the start of the Yorkshire Wolds, embracing the villages of Millington and Givendale along with the outlying communities of Ousethorpe, Grimthorpe and Little Givendale.
We have a lot to be proud of. Millington cum Givendale parish is surrounded by beautiful countryside, walks and cycle routes; and is home to a traditional CAMRA awarded pub, a tearooms and restaurant, a village hall and two historic churches.
A warm welcome to new residents (see `Village Diary` under `Parish Information` for a summary of annual events) and to all visitors;(please use our car park on the top road of the village). Welcome also to dog walkers who clean up after their dog! and a polite reminder that this is a legal requirement(the bins located at parking area, next to the church railings and the village spring can be used) - thank you for your co-operation.
The ERYC Dog Warden can be contacted on (01482) 396301.
The Parish Council have compiled a document detailing useful information for new residents which can be found here.
You can contact the Parish Council via e-mail or via the Contact Us page.
