Yorkshire Day August 2025
On Sunday 3rd August 2025 the traditional Parish Yorkshire Day celebrations were held. The day started with the Millington Hill Race where 10 runners took part in the 3-mile event. The weather was cool with a little drizzle but luckily by early afternoon when the celebrations were in full swing the sun was shining!
The afternoon consisted of a tea party, a pet show, fancy dress, a produce show, lots of children’s games, a letter hunt, hook-a-duck, not forgetting Millington’s very own Morris Dancing team! A special mention to resident Will for bringing along his band members to provide an hour of fabulous music with a bit of a Ceilidh dance on the main street!
The evening ended with a sports day and a family rounders match followed by hot butties and a few drinks back at The Gait Inn. All in all, a fabulous day of celebrations bringing the whole Parish together. A big thank you to all on the Events Team for organising the event and thank you to everyone who attended and supported the day.

VJ Day 80 August 2025
The Parish celebrated the 80-year anniversary of VJ Day on Friday 15th August 2025.
The day began with the raising of the VJ Day flag on the village green at 9:00am by Robert Willoughby with members of the Parish gathering round to watch.
In the evening, around 30 people gathered at The Gait Inn for the torch parade up to the Swineridge site. The beacon was lit around 9:00pm and the Commemorative Poem was read.
The day was well-supported and another village event that will be remembered by many.
Plant Sale May 2025
The Events Team organised a Plant Sale outside The Gait Inn throughout the month of May. Plant donations were gratefully received by members of the Parish and a fabulous total of £500 was raised which will go towards future events within the Parish.
More plants will be available in August around the Yorkshire Day celebrations, keep your eyes peeled!
Hopefully the May Plant Sale will be held again next year....a bit of notice to any keen gardeners!
