The Parish once again celebrated Yorkshire Day with lots of events held throughout the day. Runners for the long established Hill run set off at 10am over the hilly course above the village. Resident Hassan was first past the post!
A produce show took place in the centre of the village with a good number of entries. Throughout the day there was a treasure hunt around the village when children ( and adults!) looked for the letters hidden to find the hidden word. At 2pm, the Betty Clark Tea party was held in the garden of Thula House. Local band, The Fogglesykes entertained everyone and raised money for the Macmillan Cancer Charity. Tables full of food were soon eaten and the children’s fancy dress competition judged. No village event would be complete without a raffle, tombola and face painting!!
The afternoon concluded with Children and adult sports followed by the traditional Rounder’s Match.
After all this activity it was back to The Gait Inn for a few drinks and Hot Roast Sandwiches.
Thank you to everyone in the village who supported the event and a special thank you to all those who help to organise it.
